22 Nov Parker & DuFresne’s Secret Weapon
As reported recently in the Jacksonville Business Journal, Florida mortgage delinquencies hit 25%, and as a Jacksonville foreclosure defense lawyer, my firm is keeping up with the caseload by focusing on efficient case management. As a matter of fact, I would bet our firm boasts a foreclosure defense team matched by only a few firms in the entire state.
Currently, Parker & DuFresne, P.A. is actively defending more than 450 foreclosure cases throughout Florida, and each one is a uniquely complex piece of litigation. To handle this enormous caseload, we have three lawyers and five litigation assistants assigned exclusively to our foreclosure defense litigation model. While this staff sets us apart from many firms, another member of our team makes us truly unique.
My nephew, Brian Boucher (no, not the NHL goalie), started college at the age of 12 and graduated from Jacksonville University at the age of 16. Now, at the age of 22, he boasts a Masters in Mathematics from the University of Florida. Brian came aboard to redesign our case management and work flow process. He’s been dubbed our Process Management Specialist, but I’m not sure he cares for the initials.
Brian has designed and implemented a uniform file structure and file library system. In our office, each client has a physical file and a digital counterpart.
Every day, dozens of pieces of mail are scanned, logged and physically routed to the proper file. Any action required as a result of new mail is immediately brought to the attention of the proper team member. This seems simple, but as our caseload continues to grow, this system allows our team to expand while maintaining our reputation as a leader in foreclosure defense litigation.
After implementing the case management system, Brian set to work analyzing mortgage closing documents for Truth In Lending Act violations. Brian’s passion is math, and TILA analysis is a highly complex mathematical investigation. His next project is to create a software application to allow the less mathematically inclined (e.g. me) to quickly perform our own TILA analysis.
If there’s another law firm in the state of Florida with a Brian Boucher on staff, that’s news to me.
