How Much Did The Health Care Debate Cost This Week?

10 Nov How Much Did The Health Care Debate Cost This Week?

The headlines yesterday all carried the same story. The Health Care Bill passed by the House of Representatives died. Life support cannot save this Bill. So, why did our elected officials go through the motions knowing that the Bill did not have a chance of passing in the Senate? Do you think they already knew the Bill would not pass in the Senate? Sure they did. However, it is the way Washington works. The Democrats were allowed to flex their muscles for a while. I don’t really care about who appears macho this week. I care about the cost of appearing macho.I care about what the cost is. I guess that you can say I am a bottom line kind of guy. Give me the meat and potatoes every time. This time, I would like to know how much money this little charade cost the U.S. Taxpayers. At a time when many Americans are living week to week, I really cannot justify the cost of this Health Care hoopla. I just get sick (no pun intended) over the outrageous cost of chest-beating.

Despite knowing that the Bill as passed in the House of Representatives would die in the Senate, there were still House members and special interest groups claiming victory. How shallow can you be? How ridiculous a position can you take? Are you kidding me? With the money that was wasted, yes wasted, in my opinion, many homes could have been saved, or jobs created. This is what drives me insane. Everytime Airforce One leaves the ground, two people could have been employed for a year at a minimum. Government waste breeds contempt.

I don’t know what it next in this saga. I’m sure there will be a great deal of arm twisting and back door deals. I’m sure the President will be throwing around his influence where he thinks it will be needed. But, I will be watching the cost of this Bill, there is no doubt about that.
