Adrian M. Lapas has been practicing bankruptcy law since 1993 and is a board certified specialist in Consumer Bankruptcy Law by the North Carolina State Bar. Other professional associations include the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys; the Bankruptcy Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
He has presented at several different conferences on bankruptcy issues including the Bankruptcy Institute sponsored by the North Carolina Bar Association; and a state-wide conference of Legal Aid attorneys on filing adversary proceedings in bankruptcy cases. Adrian is also a graduate of Max Gardner’s Bankruptcy Bootcamp–a nationally renowned intensive training session where bankruptcy cases are reviewed for abusive creditor behavior. He has achieved some notable results in cases seeking redress involving Truth in Lending violations; usury violations; automatic stay violations and other creditor misbehavior.
Adrian graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree in 1993 and from the University of North Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1990. He also served in the United States Navy for four years as a helicopter electrician.
