What is the best way to communicate with my attorney?

23 May What is the best way to communicate with my attorney?

Email is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The number one complaint from clients almost universally is that they never have enough time with their attorney. Email allows you to contact your attorney 24/7 from anywhere in the world. Email also allows you to gather your thoughts in a more complete fashion so you are not running your legal fees up as you are trying to think about what you want to say.

From the attorney end it allows us to think and respond to your case from anywhere in the world 24/7. I am currently writing this article at 11:30 at night and it is NOT uncommon for me to respond to my clients in the middle of the night when the office is quiet. The other advantage for the client is that the email can be kept in your file so that you may refer to it later if you forgot what was discussed earlier.

I do not recommend that you use your work email but rather set up an account with Yahoo or Gmail and use that account solely for your bankruptcy case. If you choose to use your work address you can be fired or someone else may be able to view your private information. If you have a distinct email address for your bankruptcy you will be sure to not lose any important documents.
