If You Live In New York Or Southern California And Have Bill Problems, We Should Talk.

Before you decide who to hire for your bankruptcy case, you should know a little bit about them. And the most important thing to know about me is that I’m going to do my absolute best to make your bankruptcy case stress-free and successful.
I’ve been a bankruptcy lawyer since I opened my own practice at the tender age of 25; that was in 1995, just about 17 years ago. Since that time I’ve represented thousands of people in bankruptcy court.
A little while ago I decided to do something that most lawyers – most people, really – would think is insane. I took and passed the California bar exam. Now I practice law in New York as well as in Southern California.
My friends asked me why I would take another bar exam, especially given the fact that my firm in New York City is so successful. My answer was simple – people needed my help.
Now I’m the Managing Attorney at Shaev & Fleischman, LLP, a consumer protection law firm with offices in New York City and the Los Angeles area. I travel back and forth between the coasts that I should have an airplane seat with my name on it, but that’s what needs to be done to get the work done properly.
In addition to practicing law, I’m a frequent lecturer at national as well as local bar association groups on such topics as consumer bankruptcy, violations of the discharge in bankruptcy, debt collection abuse, foreclosure defense and technology and office management. I also work with Cathy Moran, another BLN member, to help teach consumer bankruptcy to other lawyers at Bankruptcy Mastery.
My Track Record
I was the first lawyer in New York to get the U.S. Bankruptcy Court to rule – in multiple cases – that the refusal of a creditor to update a credit report after bankruptcy to show the debt as being discharged and having a $0 balance was a violation of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. In the cases of Torres v. Chase Bank USA, NA, Russell v. Chase Bank USA, NA and Gilyard-McKenzie v. HSBC Bank USA, NA the courts agreed that consumers had the right to have their credit reports properly updated.
How I Work With People
It seems pretty old-world to force you to drag yourself away from work and family obligations to sit in my office. That’s why I don’t make you do that. Instead, most of my clients work with me by phone, email and fax. If it makes it easier for you to get a smart solution to your bill problems, it makes sense for me as well.
