Forbes.com says the top 20 American cities for credit card (over)spending are:

  1. Miami, FL
  2. Tampa, FL
  3. Los Angeles, CA
  4. Jacksonville, FL
  5. Orlando, FL
  6. Riverside, CA
  7. San Diego, CA
  8. San Antonio, TX
  9. Las Vegas, NV
  10. Sacramento, CA
  11. Virginia Beach, VA
  12. Pittsburgh, PA
  13. Phoenix, AZ
  14. Columbus, OH
  15. Cleveland, OH
  16. Charlotte, NC
  17. Austin, TX
  18. Cincinnati, OH
  19. Indianapolis, IN
  20. Houston, TX

Miami households owe 22.61% of their income to credit cards compated to Houston households owing 13.60%.

Forbes determined where Americans are overspending on credit cards by using data from Equifax credit reporting agency, the U.S. Census Bureau data and Moody’s Economy.com.
