Judges on Judicial Mortgage Modification Bill

by Kurt O'Keefe, Attorney at Law on February 17, 2009 · 2 comments · Posted in *Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, General Bankruptcy Information

Judicial Mortgage Modification has cleared the House Judiciary Committee.

Bankruptcy Judges have sent a letter seeking more exact wording, so that they will know what Congress intended.

This is not an endorsement of the legislation, only some good questions about what exactly Congress means.

And who doesn’t have questions like that of Congress?

California bankruptcy attorney Cathy Moran has many of the same questions.

The bill has to pass the House, and the Senate, to become law.

President Obama has said repeatedly that he supports judicial mortgage modification.

We will all find out more tomorrow when the new Treasury Secretary unveils the administration’s plans addressing the foreclosure crisis.

The President is expected to urge passage of the judicial mortgage modification bill, along with other measures to slow foreclosures.
