What am I thankful for? Let me count

by Cathy Moran, California Bankruptcy Lawyer on November 26, 2008 · Posted in General Bankruptcy Information

I’m thankful that the founders of this country understood the energizing effect of the foregiveness of debt and provided for bankruptcy laws in the Constitution.

I’m thankful that debt in this country is not an irremediable condition, that those who have encountered misfortune, bad judgment, or business failure can start over at tolerable cost through bankruptcy.

I’m thankful for my mastery of a little sliver of “the law” that lets me be a direct and immediate help to people who are hurting.

I’m thankful for the daily reminder, as I meet with financially strapped clients, that money isn’t (even close to) everything.

Lastly, I’m thankful for my colleagues here at the Bankruptcy Law Network who make my  practice of law better, with their shared insight, and more fun, with their incessant banter.
