Unemployment - what exactly does that mean? Part III

Ladies and gentleman, our government consider those to be employed as those who are working either part-time or full time during the survey week. This means that if a person is working once a month and they just happen to be working during the survey week the government and economists jump for joy because the unemployment figures go down because more people are employed. Does this make sense to you? It does not to me.

Just because the unemployment rate is steady is not a good indicator as to how our economy is doing. This just indicates how many part-time employees worked during the survey week. You as the individual are the best indicator as to how the economy is doing. Can you afford to buy that gallon of milk without cringing or buy a full tank of gas instead of calculating your MPG just to see if you can make it to work? Don’t rest easy by what the government tells you or your employer or the internet. With the invention of the internet there is no reason of why you cannot take the reins of your future and protect yourself. Knowledge is power and the key to regaining control or maintaining control over your life.

Unemployment, what does it mean? It means whatever the economists and government want it to mean. How do you get the facts and protect yourself? Pay attention to what is going on around and read about what is taking place. Then take that knowledge and apply common sense. Delve deeper into the news and ask questions. You have the right to be informed about a loan, your 401(k), your politicians and why you are paying $88 a barrel for oil.
