Am I a bad parent for not buying Christmas presents?

It is that time of year that I find myself often arguing with debtors about the need to purchase over priced Christmas gifts for their loved ones. The creditors lie in wait in their aisles ready to pounce on unsuspecting consumers, praying that you will feel like a bad parent if you don’t spend $400-$500 per person for Christmas. Don’t allow this garbage to play on your conscience!
Maybe this Christmas you can give your child the best gift of all. Knowledge and self confidence. Knowledge about the credit card industry so that your children don’t fall prey to the creditor tactics. Self confidence so that creditor does not use the media to make your child feel inferior because they are not wearing $100 pair of shoes that are ugly anyway and will only last for 2 months until the child grows out of them. I personally prefer the line of clothing for kids at Steve and Barry’s where it is cool to be inexpensive and quality as well as kewlness are the very essence of the clothes themselves.
Going into further debt to prove to your loved ones that you truly love them only causes more heartache and stress for you in the long run. Remember the origin of Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ. I often think about what would Jesus do when it came to Christmas? Do you really think he would give into the creditors ploy and go into debt just to prove how much he loved the world or would he give of himself ? I guess Easter provides the answer to this Christmas question. Don’t let the creditor win.
You are a great parent and it is okay to say NO to credit cards and debt during the holiday season.
