Update On Bankrupt Pennsylvania Mortgage Company That Affected Over 800 Consumers

This is a follow-up to the October 10, 2007 blog entitled “Help May Be on the Way to Victims of Mortgage Servicer Failure.”  According to News 8, www.thewgalchannel.com, a Lancaster County television news station, there have been several recent developments:

  • The federal court temporarily froze the owner of OPFM, Inc. d/b/a Image Masters and Personal Financial Management’s assets.
  • A Berks County Judge issued a temporary order providing that consumers do not have to make their mortgage payment until a hearing is held in December.
  • The banks involved in this case have requested the Berks County Court to expedite the hearing date.
  • State Senator Mike Brubaker helped set up a Consumer Help Center in the Farm and Home Center located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  The hours are limited.

News 8 has an excellent resource page dedicated to the Personal Financial Management/Image Masters crisis.  It provides links to the Pennsylvania Department of Banking, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and an affected homeowner’s website.  It also provides relevant telephone numbers as well as regular updates on the status of this crisis.
