The National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges is an association of the Bankruptcy Judges of the United States which has several purposes; to provide continuing legal education to judges, lawyers and other involved professionals, to promote cooperation among the Bankruptcy Judges, to secure a greater degree of quality and uniformity in the administration of the Bankruptcy system and to improve the practice of law in the Bankruptcy Courts of the United States.
The NCBJ publishes the American Bankruptcy Law Journal quarterly. They also founded the Endowment for Education which funds bankruptcy research and education, including basic empirical research on the causes and effects of bankruptcy and the effectiveness of the bankruptcy process. NCBJ holds an annual conference.
One of the programs promoted by the NCBJ is the Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) Program. The CARE Program is a nationwide program which provides high school and college educators easy access to volunteer professionals from the bankruptcy community who go into the schools to teach students important financial literacy lessons, tactics and techniques to help them understand how to use credit wisely, avoid credit card debt and understand the consequences of leading a debt-filled rather than a debt-free life.
