Bankruptcy Related Organizations Part 2 – NABT
By Peter Orville, Attorney at Law on Oct 22, 2007 in General Bankruptcy Information
The National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (NABT) was formed in 1982 to address the needs of bankruptcy trustees in the United States and to promote the effectiveness of the bankruptcy system as a whole. The majority of NABT members are Chapter 7 trustees.
NABT points out that Chapter 7 Trustees distribute $1.5 billion dollars annually to creditors and administer over one million cases each year between the 1,200 panel trustees. Like NACTT, NABT membership includes judges, debtor and creditor attorneys and other insolvency professionals.
NABT publishes a quarterly publication, NABTalk, which is sometimes combined with the NACTT quarterly publication. They present two educational events yearly, including a seminar on trustee issues and an annual convention.
NABT can be contacted at One Windsor Cove, Suite 305, Columbia, SC 29223, (800) 445-8629, at their email address, info@nabt.com or through their website www.nabt.com
