U.S. Trustee Bankruptcy Information Sheet

All Kansas bankruptcy trustees are required to ask debtors if they have read and understood a bankruptcy information sheet by the U.S. Trustee.

The sheet gives general information about types of bankruptcy, discharge, reaffirmation of debts and other subjects that may or may not apply to you. By reading the sheet in advance of the hearing, you have the opportunity to ask your attorney questions, correct misinformation, and resolve any concerns. This way, you won’t be caught off guard by the trustee’s question.

It is not a good idea to ask your trustee questions at your meeting of creditors (341 hearing). Ask your attorney ahead of time or after the hearing is over! The trustee cannot give you legal advice and you should rely on your attorney for information and advice.

The U.S. Trustee Region 20 provides its bankruptcy information sheet in nine languages. Here is the Bankruptcy Information Sheet in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic, Hmong, and Tagalog.
