Where Is My Bankruptcy Meeting of Creditors Held in the District of South Carolina?

The bankruptcy court for the District of South Carolina has three divisions, holding court is Columbia, Spartanburg, and Charleston. The only location with a staffed clerks’ office is Columbia. The court in Columbia is located at 1100 Laurel Street, which is where you would go to the clerk’s office and to court. Meetings of Creditors are held at the nearby Strom Thurmond Federal Building, located at 1835 Assembly Steet. The court’s web site provides this useful map with parking information. That’s a good thing–you’ll need it.

In Charleston court and Meetings of Creditors are held at 145 King Street, Suite 245, which is the King and Queen Building. In Spartanburg, the bankruptcy court is located in the Donald Russell Federal Courthouse, at 201 Magnolia Street. Maps to those locations can be found here. Parking is scarce in all three locations, so be sure to allow time to find parking.

You will generally be asked to show a picture identification to get into the courthouse, and you will not be permitted to bring cell phones or other electronic devices. (Surely you don’t need to be told that you can’t bring weapons.)
