Where Is My Bankruptcy Meeting of Creditors Held in the Syracuse Division of the Northern District of New York?

A meeting of creditors is held in every bankruptcy case. The meeting of creditors for a Chapter 7 is conducted by the chapter 7 trustee. The meeting of creditors for a Chapter 13 is conducted by the chapter 13 trustee.
Meetings are held in Syracuse, at the United States Federal Building and Courthouse, located at 100 S. Clinton Street Syracuse, NY 13261. The meetings are held on the first floor. After you enter the building, go towards the rear doors, and turn into the hallway on the left. The meeting rooms will be straight ahead.
The meeting of creditors is an informal meeting between you, the Trustee and your lawyer. On the rare occasion, a creditor shows up. The meeting will go quickly, and you will soon see that any worry you had before the meeting was unnecessary, especially if your attorney’s office has provided the Trustee with the documents s/he needs and has spent the time needed to properly prepare your petition. Get there at least a few minutes early so you can hear the type of questions asked by your Trustee.
To be allowed into the courthouse, everyone must show a picture identification and must pass through a metal detector. Cell phones, computers, cameras or electronic devices are not allowed to be brought into the courthouse by non attorneys.
