Another Celebrity Bankruptcy - Andre Rison
By Carmen Dellutri, Attorney at Law on Jun 13, 2007 in Bankruptcy Cases & Legislation, Florida, General Bankruptcy Information
It seems that no-one is immune from financial problems. Everyday, I see people who are dealing with financial problems and are contemplating bankruptcy. When an All-Pro football player is thrown into a Chapter 11 for failing to pay child support, you begin to realize that financial problems do not consider who you are or were. Andre Rison made millions and millions of dollars in the National Football League. You may recall that he was in the news when his ex-girlfriend burned down his home. Well, it seems Mr. Rison has other problems now, he can’t seem to keep up with his child support.
Over the years I have know many good people who have had to file bankruptcy to catch up on child support. As a father myself, I would want to know that my children were being provided for, as any father would. But, what if there was literally no money to send? This is the problem that Mr. Rison, like many other Americans, is facing. His assets have been depleated, and in 2005, he spent a month in jail for the same issue. So, I can understand what Mr. Rison is going through, and, I wish him well, but on another note, the issue of bankruptcy and financial problems needs to be in the media, and for this I am grateful to the media for publishing the facts.
