Where is my bankruptcy hearing in Topeka Kansas?

If your bankruptcy case was filed in Topeka, Kansas, your meeting of creditors (341 hearing) will be held at the main downtown U.S. Post Office located at 434 S. Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas, on the northeast corner of 5th Street and Kansas Avenue. The hearing will be in Room 303. An elevator is located inside the front entrance to the building.

Parking is available on the street and next door to the Post Office in the Townsite Parking garage with an entrance on 5th Street between Kansas Avenue and Quincy Street. The parking fee is 70 cents per hour. Parking on streets surrounding the post office is limited to 30 and 60 minutes, which may not be long enough for your hearing. Time limits are enforced by the city. Over-time parking tickets are $8.00. Putting more money in the meter or moving the car are not successful ways to avoid a ticket. Do yourself a favor and park in the garage. Most hearings are over within 60-90 minutes.

Most clients only attend one hearing at the U.S. Post Office and do not attend a court hearing. All court hearings for Topeka cases are in the Frank Carlson Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, 444 SE Quincy, Topeka KS 66683, next door to the Post Office to the east.

More information is located at the court’s website: www.ksb.uscourts.gov.
