Where Are New York City Bankruptcy Creditor Meetings Held?
By Jay Fleischman, New York Bankruptcy Lawyer on Apr 5, 2007 in General Bankruptcy Information, New York
A meeting of creditors is held in every Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy case. When you file your bankruptcy case in New York City, the location of the meeting of creditors depends upon the county or borough in which you live.
If you live in Brooklyn, Queens or Staten Island then your meeting of creditors will be held at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, 271 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn, NY. The building houses not only the U.S. Bankruptcy Court but also the U.S. Post Office. It is the large gray stone building at the corner of Cadman Plaza and Tillary Street. You can get a map of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York by clicking here.
If you live in Manhattan of the Bronx then your meeting of creditors will be held at 80 Broad Street, 4th Floor, New York, NY. This is not a court house; rather, it is an office building. You can get a map of 80 Broad Street by clicking here.
