Foreclosure in Florida – Help to Save Your Home- Yea Right!
By Carmen Dellutri, Attorney at Law on Mar 16, 2007 in General Bankruptcy Information
Around the same time that the new Bankruptcy Code went into effect, the Florida real estate market took a dive. Amazingly, the number of businesses offering foreclosure assistance increased. These businesses come in various different forms, appear and then disappear. Each and every day it seems that people facing foreclosure have to deal with the latest round of letters, Internet solicitations, and people coming up to their front door saying: “I really like your house are you interested in selling.”
If you are facing foreclosure, you should be very careful of anyone offering to help you save your home. You should throw away those awful solicitations from the friendly people who are there to help. They make a very nice living preying on the equity in your home. Florida is full of scams that do not want to help you save your home. Just the opposite, these scams result in the home-owner losing their homes to the foreclosure assistance company rather than the bank. They will lie, cheat and steal your home, and have you believing that it is in your best interest.
The most notorious is the sale-lease back scam. Here, a company will buy the home from the home-owner for little or nothing to prevent foreclosure, then they will lease the house back to the home-owner and maybe sell the home back to the home-owner if the profit is enough. If you are behind on your mortgage payments or are already facing foreclosure in the State of Florida, you will need to speak with an attorney experienced in handling Foreclosure issues.
