Does Changing My Job Affect My Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?
By Bankruptcy Attorney on Mar 2, 2007 in Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, Colorado
The answer is that is depends. It will depend on when you change your job.
If you change your job prior to filing a Chapter 13 bankruptcy and make more money in the new job then you may be required to pay more to the 13 trustee during your Chapter 13 Plan.
If you receive a higher paying job after you file your Chapter 13 your payments will frequently remain the same so long as your Chapter 13 Plan has been confirmed and the increase is negligible (under approximately a 10% increase).
In many legal matters you are dealing with a spectrum of risk. Each person’s facts may be different and present a higher or lower risk of creating problems. It would be wise to consult a bankruptcy attorney for assistance specific to your facts and risks.
