Four Reasons Not To File Bankruptcy
By L. Jed Berliner, Western & Central Massachusetts Bankruptcy Attorney on Feb 3, 2007 in General Bankruptcy Information
Here are four reasons not to file bankruptcy.
Shame.
Guilt.
Worthlessness.
Failure.
These are very powerful feelings. They go right to the heart of who we are, of what we think about ourselves. Of what gets us up and out of bed in the morning.
But one out of every 15 Americans has filed bankruptcy in the past five years. 300 million Americans, and about half are adult. About two million debtors each year. 10 million bankruptcy filers out of 150 million adult Americans.
One out of 15.
That means that you know people who have done this.
No one talks about it. No one is on the street corner yelling “Go see a Bankruptcy Law Network attorney now for bankruptcy!”

One out of 15.
You have plenty of company.
