I Never Dreamed I’d Consider Bankruptcy.

The reasons that a person finds themselves considering bankruptcy can be a complex maze of events. Most people who wind up talking to a lawyer about bankruptcy confess that they never thought there would be a time when they would seriously consider bankruptcy. After all, nobody plans to lose a job; nobody plans on having an extended illness or injury which keeps them from being able to work and pay their bills on time; and nobody plans on a divorce that requires them to have 2 homes for the kids to live in.

If you are considering a bankruptcy, it is important to remember that there is no shame in ensuring that you are able to provide for yourself and your family before you send any money to your creditors. Many people feel guilty about not being able to pay their debts and wind up sacrificing security for their families so that they can pay their debts. You and your family are entitled to have money for food, have a roof over your head, keep the lights on, and pay the car payment. Your first obligation is to yourself and your family, NOT to your creditors. If there is no money left over for the credit cards and personal loans after those expenses are met, you need to consider finding a legal way to be excused from paying those debts. A bankruptcy attorney in your area can explain to you what your options are.
